Does money bring happiness? My husband and I together earn around $220K but my friends earn way more than us? Are they supposed to be happier than us? What is happiness?

The short and easy answer. NO, money in and of itself does not bring happiness. Happiness is found within. If you are an unhappy person and earn a lot of money, sure you can buy stuff that can temporarily be fun, but like any new toy, the shininess wears off and you are stuck back at unhappy you until you get the next thing.

 

If you are happy, without money, having more money only magnifies the joy. You are likely someone who will shine even brighter and more money only allows you to spread more joy.

 

Happiness is an emotion and an energetic state of being. It is activated by your thoughts. Thoughts create emotions. Money is a piece of paper used in trade to make it more fair and equitable. Money is a man-made concept.

 

Happiness is self-made.
